General Reiki FAQs

What is Reiki healing and how does it work?
Reiki is a gentle energy healing therapy that promotes relaxation, balance, and natural healing. It works by channeling universal life energy through the practitioner’s hands to help clear energetic blockages and support the body’s innate ability to heal.

What can I expect in my first Reiki session?
In your first Reiki session, you’ll simply lie down (fully clothed) while the practitioner gently places hands above or lightly on the body. Most people experience deep relaxation, warmth, tingling, or a sense of peace during the session.

How does Reiki help with stress, anxiety, and relaxation?
Reiki helps calm the nervous system, lower stress levels, and bring the body back into balance. Many clients find that Reiki reduces anxiety, eases tension, and promotes restful sleep.

Is Reiki safe to combine with other therapies or medical treatments?
Yes. Reiki is a complementary therapy that can safely be used alongside medical care, counseling, and other wellness practices. It does not replace medical treatment or psychotherapy services, but can enhance overall healing.

How many Reiki sessions are recommended for best results?
The number of Reiki sessions depends on your goals. Many clients notice benefits after one session, but regular sessions—weekly or monthly—help maintain balance and support long-term wellness.

How do I prepare for my first Reiki or equine Reiki session?
You don’t need to do anything special. Wear comfortable clothing, arrive with an open mind, and allow yourself time to relax before and after your session.

What should I wear to a Reiki session?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that help you relax. Reiki is done fully clothed, and you’ll be lying down or sitting comfortably.

How do I book a Reiki session with you?
You can book a Reiki or equine-assisted Reiki session by filling out the contact form under the “contact” tab in the main navigation menu, or by clicking here.

Equine-Assisted Reiki FAQs

What is animal-assisted Reiki and how is it different from traditional Reiki?
Animal-assisted Reiki includes the presence of animals, such as horses, in the healing process. Animals are highly sensitive to energy and often act as partners, helping clients feel more grounded, open, and supported. Through non-verbal communication, horses often share with us where healing opportunities arise, and these can be both physical and emotional.

Why are horses powerful healing partners in Reiki sessions?
Horses are deeply intuitive and live fully in the present moment. Their calming energy can help people release stress, reconnect with themselves, and experience healing on a profound level. Horses are also experts at nervous system regulation and this can allow us (humans) to naturally come into coherence with them, creating an opportunity for our body to remember how to regulate naturally.

Can Reiki help animals with stress, anxiety, or trauma?
Yes. Reiki can be offered to animals to support relaxation, reduce anxiety, and ease the effects of trauma or physical discomfort. Animals often respond quickly to energy work. Horses tend to love therapeutic work as it gives them a purpose, but also can be very healing for them on the receiving end as well.

What happens during an equine-assisted Reiki session for people?
In an equine-assisted Reiki session, you’ll spend time near or with horses while receiving Reiki. The horses may choose to engage with you, offering their calming presence and amplifying the healing process.

Do animals have a choice in Reiki sessions, and how do they respond?
Yes. Animals always have autonomy in Reiki sessions. They may stand close, walk around, or engage in subtle ways that show they are receiving the energy. Respecting their choice is part of the healing process.

Yoga Nidra FAQ

What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a guided practice of deep rest and relaxation, sometimes called “yogic sleep.” You’ll be guided through awareness of your body, breath, and inner experience while resting comfortably.

Who is Yoga Nidra good for?
Yoga Nidra can be beneficial for anyone who feels stressed, mentally or physically tired, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply in need of deeper rest. It’s especially welcoming for those who find traditional meditation difficult or who need a slower, more restorative practice.

What can Yoga Nidra help with?
Yoga Nidra may support relaxation, stress reduction, nervous system regulation, restful sleep, mindfulness, and a greater sense of calm and self-awareness.

Do I need to know yoga or meditation?
Not at all! There is no stretching, exercise, or previous experience required. Yoga Nidra is accessible to everyone.

Will I fall asleep?
You might! It’s completely normal to drift in and out of sleep during Yoga Nidra. There is no right or wrong way to experience the practice.

What should I bring?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring anything that helps you feel cozy and supported—Mats, pillows and blankets are provided. I recommend bringing an eye covering to assist with deeper relaxation.

What if my mind won't quiet down?
That’s okay. You don’t have to clear your mind or “do it right.” Simply listen to the guidance and allow yourself to be present with whatever comes up. One of the most beneficial aspects of this practice is its simplicity and ease.

What if I have physical limitations?
Yoga Nidra can be practiced lying down, seated, or in another comfortable supported position. You can adjust your position or take a break whenever needed. I can provide assistance with setting up additional props to make you most comfortable for your needs.

Is Yoga Nidra therapy?
Yoga Nidra is a mindfulness and relaxation practice and is not a substitute for medical or mental health treatment. It can be a supportive complement to your overall wellness routine.
